Fire destroyed a home in the Liberty Hill neighborhood of North Charleston on Monday afternoon, displacing a family and killing a dog, firefighters said.
Crews responded to the home at 4751 Abraham Ave. around 12:30 p.m. to find flames coming from the single-story brick and wood house, Battalion Chief Eric Phillips said.
They spent between three and four minutes putting out the blaze.
An adult escaped from the blaze unhurt, though a dog died inside, Phillips said. Three people lived at the house, including another adult and a teenager, he said.
The Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross was helping them with emergency needs.
Phillips said an electrical problem caused the fire and that the house was a total loss
